God's Mercies are New Every Morning

The photo is from our 2011 Summer Vacation.  Here you see the sun rising over Lake Huron near St. Ignace, Michigan. This beautiful sunrise reminds me that God's mercies are new every morning.

This is the Ephesians 4:15 Counseling Services Business Logo created by my talented son William.  A million thanks, Mi Amor for all the time, talent and love you invested in creating this logo for me

So It Turns Out That We Needed A Lot Of Help

So if you happened to browse my website a couple days ago and then again today, you may have noticed some changes.  In fact, you likely noticed a lot of changes...everything has changed!  It's a completely new website.  As it turned out, we needed more help and problem solving than we originally thought.   We asked for a little bit of help and ended up getting a whole lot of it!  But I have to admit, it was kinda hard accepting it.  I had a hard time letting go of the website that William and I built even though I had cursed it many times while in the making of it.  I kept trying to do something I didn't know how to do; and I kept trying to make it do things that it I didn't know how to program it to do.  But still,  I didn't want to give up.  I didn't want to let go.  I didn't want to let go of the idea that we could do it ourselves.  I didn't want to let go of my son's determination to be my "tech man" and make this work for me.  I did not want all our efforts to be for naught.  Emotion warred with reason.   Feelings blurred facts.  But we talked it out.  We expressed our feelings.  We researched the facts.  We did the pros and cons... and in the end, we decided to move forward with a new plan and a new tech man.  Well, a new plan anyway...William will always be my tech man.  I say with no shame whatsoever, I will always need technological help.  And I will be ever thankful to William who so graciously drops all to come help when I call.

That all being said, I have a new best friend in the integrated website business.  Jaswant Pujari of Therasoft Online.  What a help he has been!  I actually may not have to pull out the rest of my hair in frustration now.  Since I can't be an all self sufficient expert on all things, it's good to come across a few experts that are willing to come a long side, go beyond the call of duty and just help out.

So the first moral of the story is..Do not fear...Help will come.  The second moral of the story is that it really is OK to let go of something that isn't really working even when you've worked really hard on it.  If it's not working, it's not working. It's important to know when to let go and when to hang on.  In this case, it was time to let go and make room for something new.  New can be good.

We All Need A Little Help Sometimes

Good Evening,

If you’ve been browsing around my website this evening you may have noticed the new edition of an online registration feature.  If so, you also noticed that it doesn’t work.  Sorry about that.  I’m hoping to get it fixed tomorrow afternoon.  I don’t know how to fix it myself.  I need help…I need soooo much technical help.
Anyway, this is the story of my failed “client portal” link. My online “complete practice management” tech man said “No problem.  I can get that up for you in a few minutes”.  But he couldn’t.  So we called the website tech man.  He said, “Sure thing.  I can help you folks with that”.  He looked and he tried and he asked questions for which I did not have good answers.  It’s like a foreign language to me  Finally he said, “I think I’ve got it.  Just let me put you on hold while I try it”.  I waited on hold for several minutes; growing later and later for my next appointment,  until the call was dropped.  The cheery telephone waiting music just suddenly went silent. Not knowing what else to do, I went on about my business.  My next appointment was still waiting for me.  About a half an hour later, a tech gal from the first company called and said, “Good news.  We got it fixed.  Your online registration is working now”.  But it wasn’t. I was disappointed…but not despairing.  Help will come again.  I know this because I already have a 4:00 appointment set with them for tomorrow. We’ll try again then.

I’ve discovered that many things in life are like this.  We try something new.  It doesn’t quite work out like we expect.  It’s disappointing.  We don’t know how to fix it ourselves.  We need help.  Sometimes we need just a little bit of help.  Sometimes we need a whole lot of it.  When we ask, sooner or later help will come.  Sometimes the help is just what we need, when we need it and it feels great!  But sometimes, it’s a little bit disappointing.  Sometimes, the help that comes first, just isn’t enough.  So we need to ask again.  And when we ask again;sooner or later, more help will come.  And sooner or later, the help will be enough.  And sooner or later, our problem will be resolved…we will get what we need.
Such is life.  We will have problems.  If we persist in asking, we will get the help we need.  So don’t give up.  Persist!  Keep on asking!  Help is on the way!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it well be opened.”  Matthew 7: 7-8

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity.”  Jeremiah 29:11-14a
